Dr. Jessica McKinley-Simpson

Hello! Advocacy and problem-solving are the central tenets of my service as a Licensed Psychologist (IN #20043982A) and Nationally Certified School Psychologist. I am passionate about empowering those I serve by providing the support they need to experience success across home, school, and social settings. To accomplish this, I utilize empirically-supported behavioral and cognitive-behavioral approaches in my work with children and families. My extensive school-based experiences provided me with the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of special education law and best practices for school-based interventions and support. With this expertise, I am well-equipped to advocate for families to access the services their children need to achieve the most success in school setting.

I graduated from the School Psychology program at Illinois State University, where I acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to support children within their schools and communities. My training was further developed through an internship at the Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) of the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where I worked alongside general and developmental pediatricians in an integrated care setting, providing parent coaching and direct therapy to children and adolescents. During that time, I also furthered my expertise in diagnostic assessment, particularly differential diagnostic assessments for youth with ADHD, autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, anxiety, depression, and/or other psychological conditions. I continue to specialize in differential diagnostics and direct therapy for children and teens with anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

My research interests center on caring for the caregiver, and I apply this passion to my work as a practitioner. I strive to take an ecological approach and consider the many factors at play in the development and well-being of a child, and as such, I enjoy having the chance to include caregivers in the therapeutic process. Through this teamwork, we can collaborate to implement interventions and supportive strategies that lead to better outcomes for the child, the parent or caregiver, and the family unit as a whole.

When I'm not at work, you can find me gardening, staying active outside, getting lost in a good book, playing with my dogs, and making memories with my family. Whether it is flipping pancakes with my daughter as my sous chef, exploring the woods of our backyard, or enjoying a weekend getaway, these moments fill me with joy and gratitude!

I look forward to collaborating with you and your family to help you THRIVE!
