<image:title>Child & Adolescent Therapy - What does therapy with children and adolescents look like?</image:title>
<image:caption>It depends on a number of factors, including your child’s age, developmental level, and presenting problems. In general, treatment with younger children is activity-based — often including coloring, worksheets, games, brief videos and other hands-on activities to teach concepts and build skills. Older children and adolescents participate in talk therapy which may also include use of worksheets and technology to promote application of learned skills outside of therapy sessions. Regardless of your child’s age, parent participation is critical to successful treatment. While we provide expertise in therapeutic interventions, you are the expert on your child. We engage in regular check-ins with parents throughout treatment. This allows us to evaluate your child’s progress and discover additional growth opportunities.</image:caption>

<image:title>Parent Coaching - Our Approach: No magic wands, just research-driven strategies that work.</image:title>
<image:caption>We use a collaborative problem-solving process to address your parenting concerns. Through parent coaching, we will teach you to identify the reasons for your child’s negative emotional and behavioral responses, and help you implement prevention and intervention techniques to reduce them. You’ll learn strategies grounded in neuroscience and child development that can help you not only survive difficult moments with your kids, but actually use those very moments to build their skills in emotion-regulation and resilience.</image:caption>

<image:title>Telehealth - How to Use Telehealth With Thrive Child Psychology</image:title>
<image:caption>Telehealth is the delivery of health-related services using telecommunication technologies. It allows for remote patient care, education, intervention, and monitoring. Our practice offers telehealth sessions through video chat using a secure, easy-to-use platform. Prior to a telehealth appointment, patients receive an individualized invitation link to connect at their scheduled time. If using a computer, the link will open a new tab for the session to begin. When connecting from a tablet or phone, the link will launch the SimplePractice Telehealth app. Just type in your name and you’re ready to go!</image:caption>

<image:title>Telehealth - Preparing Your Child for Telehealth</image:title>
<image:caption>We recommend reviewing these tips prior to treatment to ensure your child gets the most out of their telehealth sessions. Let your child know what to expect. Explain who they will see on the screen, what type of things they will talk about, and the purpose of the session. Give your child the opportunity to ask questions. Some children may not be used to speaking with others through screens. It is helpful to let them know that usually kids feel more comfortable after a few sessions. Create a comfortable space for sharing. Identify a place in your home where your child feels at ease, has limited distractions and noise, and privacy from other family members. If your child needs to be in a shared space, allow them to wear headphones. It may be helpful to have your child participate in selection of the space. Lay the ground rules. Share with your child the behavioral expectations for participating in their video chat session. Just like an in-person doctor’s appointment, they are expected to listen and respond, remain seated, and stay for the duration of the appointment. It’s helpful to close other websites and apps and turn off notifications to limit on-screen distractions. Explain your role in the session. At the end of the intake session, parents will be informed of recommendations for the treatment approach. This may include parent participation in a portion or all of the session. Before your child’s session, share if you’ll be present and how to reach you if they need assistance. Hold a practice session. Click the link to connect to your child’s provider before the session begins. While your provider will not be on the other end until the scheduled time, you can ensure that the technology is downloaded and working properly. This can prevent you from using session time to work through any issues with technology.</image:caption>

<image:title>Young Adult Therapy - What does therapy with young adults look like?</image:title>
<image:caption>Our approach to treatment with young adults involves traditional one-on-one talk therapy. We start the process by cultivating a strong therapeutic alliance, gaining a better understanding of current difficulties, and establishing your goals for our work together. We will meet weekly or bi-weekly to provide emotional support, guidance, and research-based tools to help you navigate the complexities of life and achieve your personal and professional goals. We recognize that young adulthood is marked by significant transitions such as moving away from home, starting college or a career, entering into serious relationships, and/or becoming financially independent. We are dedicated to supporting you through those transitions, empowering you to make well-informed choices, and facilitating personal growth and well-being.</image:caption>
